My name is Martin Weidisch, I am 44 years old and live in Friedrichshafen. My profession is business administration and I work in the marketing department of a mechanical engineering company. I got to know EFFA in 2013 at the AquaFisch in Friedrichshafen after taking part in the EFFA Open tying competition.
My fishing career started early at the trout pond and on vacation at the sea. At the age of 12 I took the fishing exam and was finally allowed to go fishing officially, in the beginning of course still with worm and spoon. When rod building was on the program in our fishing club, I built my first fly rod under instruction - the line class was estimated at about 4-5 ;-) I bought a reel and a line from my savings and caught my first fish with the fly: a chub.
The interest in fly fishing grew more and more and it came what had to come, I started tying flies. First with a self-made tying vise and a small basic equipment, later with more and better material. I did this for a few years until I was in my early 20's... well, and then other things were probably more important than fishing. During this time I met my future wife, with whom I now have two teenage children. But once the fever has taken hold of you, it won't let you go. So in my late 20s I started fishing and fly tying again.
